Thank you, families, for

continuing to fund the

Valhalla Reading Lab

Now we need volunteers!

We have several people who have been volunteering as Reading Lab Coaches for years, but each year schedules change or people graduate out of school along with their children.

We need help throughout the year, so please consider this:

  • Reading Lab trains you
  • Work one day (or more) per week for a 25-minute session
  • Lab Hours are:                  Mon–Thu, 8:15 am–11:35 am

We serve over 50 students, and we can't do it without you!

Please contact Corrin Canale at for more information.

VPFA Update

Hello Valhalla Families!

Thank you to everyone who came out for Community Service Day!

We packed 177 meals for the Food Bank and made some really great improvements to our school garden and the surrounding areas. It was really nice to see everyone working together to support Valhalla.

A huge thank you to Jen Takita, who has made Valhalla's garden something special. Our kids love the garden and are so lucky to have you!

September 19 was our first VPFA meeting of the year. We had a really great turnout with a lot of new faces. Our calendar and budget for the year are posted in the VPFA section of our school website, check them out when you can. I hope that kind of attendance continues throughout the year.

The Boosterthon fundraiser, has just ended with yesterday’s Boosterthon Fun Run. This event was a huge success, both for the amazing program that the kids enjoyed so much as well as for our school fundraising efforts. Thank you to Sidney Allen and her volunteers for running the event, to the teachers and staff for their role in promoting leadership and fitness to students throughout the past two weeks; the students for their hard work and unbelievable energy throughout the program, especially while running all those laps; and to the parents and school community for your contributions to this important fundraiser.

Things are shaping up to be really awesome around here. Have a great night tonight at Valhalla’s 50th Anniversary Celebration and Welcome Back Dinner Dance!

Stephanie Martin, VPFA President

School Site Council

We have 5 positions open for our school site council!

The school site council is a group of teachers, parents and classified employees who work with the Principal to develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets. This is a 2-term volunteer position that typically meets 1 Monday per month from 3:15-4:15pm. This is a very important group of people to our school. It is also a very good time to be on this council with a new Principal coming in.

If you are interested in finding out more, please stop by the office and talk to Mrs. Kreuscher-Trimble.

Mrs. Thor

Did you know you can look up books in our library from the comfort of your home

Simply go to, click on "Valhalla Elementary" then click on "Catalog" and you're in!

This is an easy, hassle free way to help your K-2 child look up books ahead of their library day, and older students can do this on their own. They can write a few choices on a slip of paper and on library day, book check-out is a breeze!

Happy reading!
