Library Books
To make library go smoother and to allow them more time to explore the library or hear a good story, we are asking that library books return to school on Wednesdays. This will allow us to get a head start for Thursday Library Mornings.

Calling All Volunteers
Thank you for everything that you have done for our class this year. Please come to the Volunteer Tea in Thor Hall on Wednesday, May 25th, from 1-2:30 pm.
Open House
Thank you so much for coming out to see all your child’s hard work this year. They love showing off their projects! I will be putting all the work together into their class books and will send them home in June.
May Field Trip
We are heading out soon on our next field trip adventure! Don’t forget to pack a lunch for your child and have them wear comfortable shoes. Our chaperones for this trip are from the families of Bryson, Chase, Ivy, Kohana, Luci, Madelynn, Olivia, and Xavier. We can still bring 2 more chaperones if any parent is interested and has been fingerprinted.
***Chaperones- please see the chaperone agreement form sent home that you need to sign and return.
***Parents meeting us there- We are leaving Valhalla about 9:00 am if you would like to follow the bus or you can meet us in the top parking lot of the zoo.

Mrs. Neys showed the students how to access Book Flix; a fun, new reading program that the students can access from home! Scholastic BookFlix is an online literary resource that pairs classic video storybooks from Weston Woods with related nonfiction eBooks from Scholastic to build a lone of reading and learning. Go to www.mdusd.org, then click on “Valhalla Elementary” link. On the school library home page, click on “BookFlix” under the Read Online heading. For home access, enter the username valhalla and the password is bookflix.
i-Ready
Our school has implemented an online program called i-Ready® Diagnostic & Instruction that will provide our students with an innovative diagnostic assessment and engaging instruction. The focus of this online program is reading and math. i-Ready Instruction provides individualized instruction based on each student’s unique needs. The online instruction is designed to be both challenging and engaging. i-Ready delivers instruction using engaging, contemporary animation; the lessons are also interactive. The result is an experience that attracts and holds your child’s interest while also teaching important skills and concepts. These lessons are proven to help students grow academically. Login information was/will be sent home with your child.
