Principal Keck's Korner

Welcome, it's going to be a fantastic year!

Dear Valhalla Viking learning community,

I would like to personally welcome our returning families and extend an extra warm welcome to our newest families.  Valhalla is a special place.  Each and every one of our students are special in their own unique way and our dedicated staff celebrates and supports the nurturing of those strengths to support each child's areas of growth.  I am forever grateful for the continued support our Viking families provide which helps make our students' elementary journey the best and most memorable that it can be.  We have a strong Valhalla Parent Faculty Association as well as Site Council to help shape our decision making and direct our focus based on the assessed needs of our student body.

I am extremely proud to be a part of such an amazing school and community.  I myself am a Pleasant Hill resident who moved  in 1999 from Brooklyn, New York.  My educational journey began in 1992 where I began teaching a Pre-K/Kindergarten class.  Later, I would teach elementary, become a teacher coach, Vice Principal and now Principal.  That was all made possible in part because my family is my greatest support.  My husband Jim Keck is a PE teacher and the Athletic Director for College Park High School and has lived in PH since he was 14.  As a student himself, he attended Valley View and College Park.  My three sons are Jackson and Bailey (16 year old identical twins) and Colby who is 14.  They are all CPHS students and are actively involved in sports.  As a parent and educator, it is important that I give back to my community and being a principal in Pleasant Hill is one of the ways that I am able to do so.  As a resident, I have the privilege and opportunity to interact with our families on and off campus, so if you see me out and about, please say hello!  I feel so lucky to be a Valhalla Viking and will do my best each and every single day to provide your children with the most memorable experiences ever.  You may follow us on Twitter for daily updates and photos on our school's homepage where you will find our Twitter feed.  Go Kindness Warriors!
